Contoh Essay

A friend, Syawal, requested a model essay to help improve his English essay for SPM. So, I wrote this for his referrence. I'll share it here. It's a simple story beginning with ' My heart was beating very fast when I...'.

My heart was beating very fast when I turned the steering wheel hard around the last corner. My right foot now pressed like a cold hard brick on the accelerator, I could not care less even if the whole world was behind me. In front of me was my life, my dreams, and everything that I had worked, endured, and trained for since I was a little boy; the chequered flag. With the BMW M3 supercar that I am piloting blasting towards the finish line at 250 kilometers per hour, nothing can stop me now. This is my moment; my destiny.

The moments of approaching victory conjured up the image of my father in my mind. I was very close with my father. We were the best of friends.

***

My father’s life revolved around motorsports. He was born a gifted racer. Nobody taught him proper driving techniques, but he learned from his own experience. The driving genius in him was discovered back in college, when he entered the annual inter-university go-kart competition as an inexperienced rookie. He raced around the college track, guided by pure instinct, in a tuned Ford Capri that he borrowed from his senior. Against all odds, he stormed through the competition to take first place after 50 laps. Pictures of him holding the championship trophy while raising his hand high up like a triumphant superhero were scattered across the following day’s newspapers. Everybody became a fan of ‘Super Steve’. My dad became instantly famous.

To this day, I still keep that newspaper cutting. The memory of my father’s shining moment was the best way I could remember him.

Tragic was the day of the final race in 1992, when I was only three years old. Dad was racing for Team Lotus in the Ultimate Championship Series, the pinnacle of auto racing. He was the leader in the overall standings, 23 points above his closest rival. This final race in the Nurburgring race track, Germany, will end the year’s season and produce a new world champion. The media dubbed my dad ‘the king of motorsports’, predicting him the winner of the Germany race. Victory, it seemed, was assured for him. Fate, on the other hand, was cruel. He was leading the race, when suddenly, the Lotus racer lost control, and crashed hard unto the wall at the fourth corner. Thick smoke came out of the exhaust, and the car rapidly caught fire. Nobody expected this. I was sitting at the grandstand with family and friends, watching the horror. He was three more laps to ultimate victory. Dad was trapped in the cockpit.

Steven Capri died a racing legend, and a great father.

Mum never dared to let me near a go-kart. Scared of losing her only son, she did everything in her power to hold me back from racing. Because of mum, a racing career was never to be for me, so it seemed. I understood her decision full well. After dad’s tragic death, mum kept herself and me as far away from the racing world as possible. She would not even take me to a race. “You’ll do just fine watching the race from television. It doesn’t make much difference. Besides, the engine roars will damage your ears when you get older.” Mum used to tell me that all the time.

Mum made me miss a big part of my dad’s life. By taking away the joy of racing from me, she is driving me away from dad. I don’t blame her for being overprotective, but I miss my dad so much. The racetrack reminded me of my father. I am not going to erase the legend of my father from my life by stepping away from racing.

Despite my mother’s concerns, I joined the racing club while in college. It has been fifteen years since I drove in a go-kart. Miraculously, training was a breeze for me. Instinct told me how to drive like a professional around the go-kart track. I have racing blood flowing through me. My dad was watching over me, guiding me through the steering wheel. The racing club was too generous in sponsoring me as the college’s leading driver. From here, my racing career started. I had won many of the go-kart tournaments that I entered since then. I was proud of bringing victory to my college.

Eventually, my mum approved of my racing career. There was no way she could stop me from being like my dad. It became an honour for her that I continued in the footsteps of my father by getting into motorsports. She saw me as a living memory of my father.

***

Present reality got back into me. The moment is now. Right ahead was the wavering chequered flag. I knew that my mum was watching me from the grandstand. I hope she is not in tears. I immersed myself in the current situation. The car, the crowd, the roaring engine, and sweat hanging from the tip of my nose; I took everything in. There was a moment of silence in my mind.

I saw a glimpse of the digital leader boards; big letters spelling ‘OVERALL M3 SERIES CHAMPION – JOHN CAPRI’. Victory was destined.

*Syawal, aku harap hng boleh apply contoh sebegini utk SPM. Yang penting, hng jgn teragak-agak utk berpandangan jauh dan kreatif dlm essay SPM. Baca contoh2 essay utk mantapkan grammar. Kalau ada apa2 yg hendak ditanya, aku sentiasa kat 5 Omega. Good luck.*

The Aston Martin Rapide; British Refinement

From Autoblog; Aston Martin has released official pics of their new Rapide four dour sports sedan. Is the world ready for a four-door Aston Martin? If you got the money, and the guts to buy an Aston in this period of economic mud and filth where the common man struggles to buy bread and underwear, then you're ready for anything. Seriously though, I really think you can live with this thing. Its an Aston that will make your grandparents proud, because they can ride along at the back. The Rapide has unique doors that open at an angle slightly upwards, which looks brilliant, though ease of use, I think, is not guaranteed; just my thought.

Types of Glass (Chemistry)

1.Basically, glass is made from sand and limestone, heated to form a thick liquid. When this liquid cools, a clear, solid material is formed; glass.

2. Properties of glass; they are hard, brittle, and not reactive to chemicals. They are good insulators of heat and electricity.

Soda-Lime Glass - used in making windows, bottles, mirrors, etc. Easily broken when temperature changes too fast. Changes shape easily upon heating.

Borosilicate (Pyrex) Glass - used in making cooking glassware and laboratory apparatus. Can withstand heating at high temperatures.

Lead-crystal glass - bowls, vasses, decorative glasses. Appreciated as they are shiny, because they easily refract light.

Optical glass - Lenses for cameras, glasses, microscopes, etc.

Photochromic glass - glass that darkens with the increasing intensity of light (bright light=dark shade of glass, normal light=normal glass, no shade). Made by adding silver chloride crystals, which darkens when light passes through, into molten glass.

3. Conclusion - test tube= borosilicate, glass ornament(perhiasan)=lead-crystal, specs=optical, McD Coca-cola glass= soda-lime.

Voltaic Cells (Chemistry)

Post ni ditujukan khasnya kpd rakan saya, Topui, yg menanyakan soalan tentang Daniel Cell kpd saya petang tadi, dan amnya kpd semua orang yang suka baca blog. Sebenarnya, masa hng dok tanya tadi, aku pon tak berapa pasti pasai Daniel cell ni. Aku main agak saja tadi. Jadi, berikut ialah penjelasan sejelasnya tentang Daniel cell...

1. What is a Daniel Cell?

2. It consist of a zinc electrode dipped in zinc sulphate, and copper electrode dipped in coper (II) sulphate.

3. One of these solutions is kept in a porous pot. Porous pot functions to stop zinc sulphate and copper (II) sulphate from mixing, but still allows electron to pass through it.

4. Of course, zinc will become negative electrode, while copper will become positive electrode (based on position in electrochemical series).

5. When zinc is the negative electrode, this means that zinc will give out ions. These ions will travel up the wire to the copper electrode.

6. Zinc will lama-kelamaan become thinner, because it 'dissolves' into zinc2+ ions, by giving away electrons to the copper electrode.

7. Copper pulak will become thicker, as copper2+ ions will discharge at copper electrode and copper will be deposited there.

8. Conclusion; Zinc electrode jadi negative electrode(cathode), copper electrode jadi positive electrode(anode). Cathode will become thinner, anode becomes thicker. Electrons given out at cathode will travel up the wire to the anode. That is all.

Terima kasih.

The Scirocco; TopGear's Favourite Volkswagen

From paultan.org; The Volkswagen Scirocco (shee-rokko) has arrived, and will be sold by Volkswagen. Edgy piece of design, the scirocco is. Very modern, yet still has a hint of retro. The front has a mean, aggressive stance, which is very cool. People like mean cars. Seats four, but price range is not worthy of a four seater; RM243888. Also brought in by Volkswagen Malaysia is the Passat CC sports sedan, which, as illogical as it is, also seats four, and only four (2 seats front, 2 seats back). The CC comes in at RM 293888. F1 Abu Dhabi

The race was just over. The season was just over. Sebastian Vettel may have conquered Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit, but World Champion title nonetheless belongs to Jenson Button. The racetrack is utterly modern. Hebat betul. Built on a man-made island, the view and setting of the circuit is uniquely Abu Dhabi. From the helicopter view of the circuit, a big red roof can be seen, sporting the Ferrari logo. Ladies and gentlemen, this is FerrariWorld, an indoor ferrari themepark located in Yas Marina circuit that offers thrillrides with Gs equivalent to that of F1 cars. Well, thats what the commentators said anyways. Will be looking forward to next year's F1 season, with the introduction of Team Malaysia. All the best, Team 1Malaysia.

Radioactive Terms (Physics)

Just some important terms regarding chapter 10, Radioactivity.

1. Radioactivity - spontaneous and random emission of radioactive rays from unstable radioactive materials after which they become more stable.

2. Radioactive decay - the breaking up of unstable radioactive nuclei into more stable nuclei with the emission of alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays.

3. Half-life - The time taken for half the mass of a radioactive material to decay.

4. Radioisotopes - Isotopes with radioactive properties.

5. Nuclear fusion - the splitting up of a nucleus with a big mass into two or more nuclides with the release of
energy.

6. Nuclear fission - the combination of small atoms into a larger atom with the release of
heat (also known as thermonuclear reaction).

Any corrections, extra info, or anything at all worth sharing, just leave a comment. Thanks.
