Mamma Mia...!!!

Something... 'wonderful' is going on in Maranello, because after an admittedly personal dull moment of speechless silence following the web preview of the Ferrari Foul Four, this... thing, came out of the Pagani factory...4 days after the FF... err;

It's christened the Huayra, which is apparently some fancy name for the type of wind that blows in Spain...again... err;

That makes it have some kind of relation to the Zonda, the big brutal bully that it replaces; Zonda is the name for the kind of wind that blows over the Andes in Argentina...

Tech-wise, the Huayra will surely be able to break some massive wind...

We're talking AMG 6-litre twin turbo V12 kinds of wind...230mph winds...

Gullwing doors... nice touch.

I won't make any effort to whine over the design credentials of this land rocket, partly because honestly, it's a waste of my time, and partly because I don't have to (picture worth a thousand words). Sorry if we're not on the same page this time, Haizeer :) I'd say one thing, though... hell unique :)

Because beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and awesome is a state of being; a matter of choice...

Reality, as it is...

Snoring

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting

sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping.

In some cases the sound may be soft, but in other cases, it can be

rather loud and quite unpleasant.

Causes

Generally speaking, the structures involved are the uvula and soft palate.

The irregular airflow is caused by a passageway blockage and usually due to one of

the following:

§ Throat weakness, causing the throat to close during sleep

§ Mispositioned jaw, often caused by tension in the muscles

§ Fat gathering in and around the throat

§ Obstruction in the nasal passageway

§ The tissues at the top of airways touching each other causing vibrations

§ Relaxants such as alcohol or drugs relaxing throat muscles

§ Sleeping on one's back, which may result in the tongue dropping to the back of the

mouth.

Impact

Snoring is known to cause sleep deprivation to snorers and those around

them, as well as daytime drowsiness, irritability, lack of focus and decreased

libido.[1] It has also been suggested that it can cause significant psychological

and social damage to sufferers.[2] Multiple studies reveal a positive correlation

between loud snoring and risk of heart attack (about +34% chance) and stroke

(about +67% chance).[3]

Though snoring is often considered a minor affliction,

snorers can sometimes suffer severe impairment of lifestyle. The between-subjects

trial by Armstrong et al. discovered a statistically significant improvement in

marital relations after snoring was surgically corrected. This was confirmed by

evidence from Gall et al.,[4]Cartwright and Knight[5] and Fitzpatrick et al.[6]

New studies associate loud "snoring" with the development of carotid artery

atherosclerosis[7], the risk of brain damage[8] and of stroke. Researchers

hypothesize that loud snoring creates turbulence in carotid artery blood

flow closest to the airway. Generally speaking, increased turbulence irritates

blood cells and has previously been implicated as a cause of atherosclerosis.

Diagnosis

Usually, snoring is recognized by a friend or partner who observes the patient

sleeping. Besides the "noise" of snoring, more complex conditions such as

sleep apnea can be consistent with the symptom of snoring. A sleep study

can identify such issues. Patients can also assess their own condition to

determine the likelihood of such problems based on the severity of their sleeping

difficulties.

Coping as partner

Earplugs may facilitate good sleep for people sharing the same bedroom with

someone who snores. External earmuffs are not designed to sleep with.

Other alternatives include white noise generators.

My new roommate snores, and frankly,

I find it rather amusing.

Because we're all human,

and nobody's perfect.

S for Sedan

This is a near-production prototype of the Tesla Model S, and Tesla is a car manufacturer. For those of us who are all too familiar with the unit for magnetic field (B), the name Tesla might give a hint of something electric going on here.

Tesla produces cars that are fully powered by electricity, and fueling a Tesla is like charging your cell phone.

Established in 2003, Tesla Motors Inc. is based in Palo Alto, California, and it's first attempt at green automotive technology was the all-electric Tesla Roadster, a true sports car of the future, unveiled to the world in 2006. Who to thank? Elon Musk.

Yes, Isfahan, the Tesla Roadster only has two gears, so it's certainly no match for your black Evo on slippery snowy terrain.

What the Tesla Roadster stands for is the coming of age of electric vehicles, and the will of man to overcome the depletion of our natural resources.

So Isfahan, you owe Tesla some big-time respect. :)

Tesla is currently in full steam to bring the Model S into production. The future is clean. And gorgeous. Not to mention quiet (the sounds coming from the car in the video are purely from contact between tyres and road. No more internal-combustion rumbling. Stealthy).

FF

The whole world skips a heartbeat when Ferrari announces a new horse in their stable of razor-sharp tools of driving precision and power. They've dubbed it the FF...no, it doesn't stand for anything dirty...it's simply the Ferrari Four.

What happened to 'Italia' or 'Maranello'... 'Fiorano', 'Evoluzione', 'Stradale'?? Margaretti, perhaps? 'Auditore' even...? They need to work on their English names...

Anyways, it's not the prettiest Ferrari to be shipped out of Maranello, but it certainly is way up there on the Prancing Horse food chain... you're looking at the new flagship model, replacing the age-old GT that is the 612 Scaglietti, also a Ferrari not naturally blessed with the charm and good looks that we all expect from the legendary marque... well, nobody's perfect...

What this behemoth lacks in the visual department, it more than makes up with it's stats:-

*6.2-litre V12
*7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) gearbox
*660 bhp
*504 lb ft of torque
*century sprint: 3.7 secs
*top speed: 208 mph (335 km/h)

Typical Ferrari performance figures...but what sets this horse apart from the others is, as the name suggests, that it's got four seats, and four-wheel drive (a Ferrari first)... even 450-litres of boot space, for your groceries, and your dog.

It's got four adult-fitting seats, it's got four-wheel drive, it's actually got usable boot space, and it's not your traditionally orthodox sports car. Nevertheless, it's got the Ferrari badge on the front, sides, and rear... and so it is a Ferrari... a Ferrari for open-minded, good-willed men and women with two beautiful children, some extra cash under the mattress, and a farm... and with no deep obsession with 'brand pedigree' or 'self-image'. Because a Volvo wagon just doesn't cut it...

Well, this thing's no estate; it's more of a middle ground between coupe and wagon.

I don't know... maybe it's the front grille... evil grin... massive teeth... ready to chomp the unworthy...yep, definitely the front grille. It's menacing, aggressive, and pathetically cartoonish. Leaves me cold, emotionless... I forgive you, Porsche Panamera...

Sure, it's a great car, but then there's Aston Martin...

Judgmental, unfair criticism, considering the FF is yet to be officially launched, and those three pictures up there are just the initial press releases... time will tell;

Happy 10th Birthday, Bapak... !!

Another day, another year... another second passes by...

Always liked the idea that life starts at 40. That way, you won't need to use numbers more than 40 to tell people how young you are...

It's great that you finally turn 10 today, so happy 10th birthday! Go out and play, and act your age :)

If you're 10, then that makes me... 21 years below zero !! :) Frankly, it takes that long to grow up...

Or, if 10 is not really your flavour, then we can always go with '50 years young' :)

Having reached a big milestone in the journey of life, I'm sure you can look back through all the years, and realise that in good times and bad times, and everything in between, you've had it great all the way... all in all, thank you for being the man that you are.

18 years have taught me that it's never too late to make the most of what life has to offer, so if there's anything at all that's still worth chasing after, don't settle down (yet) :)...because you'll only be 50 once... keep on smiling, and have a great year ahead :)

Cinquecento

Wow... oooookay... hmmmmm... never really thought the Axiom would be nearing the the significant three digits soon, let alone still exist as my own personal remnants of thought in cyberspace after nearly two odd years of its birth (will turn two this coming March)... Always imagined, and said, that the Axiom would last forever, but last time I checked, forever meant ‘until I have something better to do’...

I guess the Axiom should live on forever, for is there any other way to express what’s inside this lonely, young, but ever joyful heart? You know I rarely talk (well, talk is cheap)... always liked the saying ‘silence is wisdom’... so I’ll stick to the sound of silence (*pun intended). For all the times I sit quietly by myself, deep in thought (hahahh ^^), serious-faced (or study-face, as some people call it), not even a hint of smile, don’t take me as being selfish, or arrogant... It’s just how I do... It’s my credo, my character, my nature... what makes me, me... and not even you (yes, you) can change that... bottom-line, I’ll talk when I have something to say, and I know when I have something or nothing to say... because it’s only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away... :-)

Back to reality, I’ve taken a new liking for the original 1957 Fiat 500... been driving it around GT5 tracks for the entire evening... I have to say the minimalist design, the simplistic and purposeful look and feel of the car, the curves, and those irresistible, round headlights (I’m a sucker for round headlights) have found a way into the inner depths of my heart. Want. One. Anybody happening to read this by chance, and incidentally having a 500 at hand to sell, please give me a call. We’ll talk at your favourite place.

What else? Learnt a new word today... ‘sartorial’... I like the sound of the word, how it rolls on my tongue when I say it...

Yes, I’m at home now, which means the universe is once again vibrating at its natural frequency... Well, hello there... how nice it is to be around you again, mon cheri ^^

Typical Luqman... letting it all out with a blurb on everything, yet nothing...

Interesting;

Random quote, from a random book...

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible."
-T.E. Lawrence-

So don't stop believing, and hold on to that feeling =)
*Ring a bell? Sorry for the cheesy use of popular 80s lyrics :) Simplest way to get straight to the point, and touch hearts along the way :)...

Focusing on Electric

The Ford Focus has undoubtedly proven itself in rally terrains. Now the multi-award winning hatch-back is aiming to make a scene in green automotive propulsion, with the unveiling of the Ford Focus Electric at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011.

Driven by: 100-kilowatt electric motor, with 23-kWh battery
(who needs a V8?) ( I do. )
Hp : 123
Torque : 181lb/ft
Range : 100 miles per charge
Charge time : 3-hrs (using 240V specialised home-installed charging station)

Who said green technology ain't cool? This baby's got an Aston Martin-inspired grille. That's right. Sell the brand that once belonged to you. Smart. Very smart.

The Focus Electric is effortlessly way more cooler than a boring Prius, the Chevy Volt, or a piece of Leaf. It's what the world needs; a decent, easy-on-the-eye, properly thought-out electric car from Ford. This is the full production version, by the way. 2011 Car of the Year, maybe? Definitely.
