Mercedes Benz officially unveiled their roadster take on the retro-futuristic SLS AMG yesterday. The gullwing doors will duly be missed, but what it loses in so-called show-off door mechanism, it more than enough gains with that charming 200-mph-wind-in-your-hair sensation...
Actually, the top speed is electronically-limited to 197 mph... but can you really tell the difference?
Century sprint time is 3.7 seconds, up 0.1 second from it's gullwing counterpart.
Sure, it's a fast roadster, but what really sets the SLS Roadster apart from other drop-top supercars out there? It's got a sense of history to it, in which it traces its roots back to the original 300SL roadster, the fastest production car during it's day, which is during the fifties... not many marques can relate itself to such a rich sense of history...
That, and this piece of metal is simply gorgeous... Look at those hi-res shots, and tell youself you're not awe-inspired by it's simplistic dynamism...
Because you can't blame me for aiming high and having dreams and rejecting established mediocrity;
